Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: January 2026
Last Updated: October 2025
Welcome to BackseatAI ("Backseat", "we", "our", or "us"). These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, products, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using BackseatAI, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please do not use our Service.
1. What BackseatAI Does
BackseatAI provides an AI-powered product management platform that integrates with your existing tools (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Slack, Confluence) to automate planning, documentation, and coordination tasks.
During the early access period, features and performance may change frequently as we continue development and testing.
2. Early Access Program
- Our current release is an early access beta.
- Signing up reserves your spot and grants access to preview functionality.
- No payments are collected during the early access period.
- Paid plans will begin once the platform officially launches (expected January 2026).
- We may limit, suspend, or revoke early access at any time to maintain stability or security.
- By joining early access, you agree to provide feedback and understand that the Service may contain bugs, incomplete features, or temporary downtime.
3. Accounts and Access
To use BackseatAI, you may need to create an account and connect external services (e.g., GitHub or Jira). You're responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials secure,
- Ensuring you have the right to connect external systems, and
- All activity under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the platform or other users.
4. Ownership and Intellectual Property
All software, content, and materials within BackseatAI (excluding user-generated data) are owned by BackseatAI, Inc. and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.
You retain ownership of your data, source code, and connected repositories. By using BackseatAI, you grant us a limited license to process data necessary to provide and improve the Service.
You may not copy, reverse engineer, or resell BackseatAI without written permission.
5. Data Privacy and Security
- We take privacy seriously.
- Personal data is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
- We use industry-standard encryption and security practices.
- All OAuth connections use least-privilege scopes, and no credentials are stored in plaintext.
- We may collect anonymized usage data to improve performance and reliability.
6. Service Availability and Changes
BackseatAI is a cloud-based service that may evolve rapidly. We may:
- Add, modify, or remove features,
- Schedule maintenance windows, and
- Restrict access for updates or emergencies.
We aim for high uptime, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service — especially during early access.
7. Feedback and Contributions
We welcome feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. By submitting feedback, you grant us permission to use it freely to improve the Service without any obligation to compensate you.
8. Beta Disclaimer
The early access version is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind — including fitness for a particular purpose or reliability for production environments. You use it at your own discretion and risk.
BackseatAI is not liable for any loss of data, downtime, or damages arising from beta use.
9. Payments and Future Pricing
While the early access period is free of charge, future versions may introduce paid tiers. Pricing, features, and billing policies will be communicated in advance before activation. You'll have the option to continue under new terms or cancel before any charge occurs.
10. Termination
You may stop using BackseatAI at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms,
- Compromise platform integrity or security, or
- Misuse integrations or automated systems.
Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that arose before the termination date.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BackseatAI and its affiliates will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages,
- Loss of profits, revenue, or data, or
- Any damages exceeding the amount you paid (if any) in the 12 months prior to the event.
This limitation applies even if we were advised such damages were possible.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in Delaware courts, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
